LOST Season 3 gave insight into the world of the Others (enemies of the aircraft crash survivors on an unknown island).
Jack, Kate, and Sawyer are the prisoners of the Others. They all get to escape from the Others, but they discover more things
about the Others and even hints at someone worse than the Others. Locke (Terry O'Quinn) goes on his own journey and discovers
other things about the island. He joins the others for his own reasons. Two new characters get bumped off in addition to
one regular character in the season 3 finale. We get to learn even more in character flashbacks even more about Ben (leader
of the Others). The season finale gives a flash forward into Jack's life. I hope it doesn't mean the end of the flashbacks
while the flash forward concept in an interesting twist to the storyline.
SPECIAL FEATURES: Most of the extras are on disc 7. 5 audio commentaries were recorded for season 3 (they do feature optional
English subtitles). I only read the subs for THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN while I watched the episode.
DISC 7 extras:
The World Of The Others featurette gives insights to the characters and world of the others from cast and crew.
Three Lost Flashbacks are somewhat more interesting than most of the pointless nine deleted scenes (half from the first few
episodes of the third season). Still they don't include the deleted scene actor Michael Emerson (Ben) mentions on the audio
commentary for THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN 10.
Lost On Location featurettes gives a behind-the-scenes look at ten episodes of season three.
The Lost Book Club gives hints to the literary references featured in the series.
Lost In A Day documentary takes a look at seven different LOST episodes in various stages of production during teh course
of one 14 hour work day. You get to see on location filming, post production editing and sound work, and go inside the writer's
room.
Lost bloopers mostly feature line flubs, stumbles, and laughing. Also on disc 7 are featurettes on a Lost crew tribute where
actress Evangeline Lily introduces viewers to various members of the crew, a short Easter Egg featurette showing a visual
make-up session, the Lost action figures from McFarlane Toys, and a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the video game.
The one really interesting extra is the Orchid Instructional Video where you get to see behind-the-scenes moments of the Dharma
Initiative making their video and something goes wrong during the course of filming.
FINAL ANALYSIS: Despite a few missteps, LOST Season 3 finished strong. The set has a a wealth of DVD extras like previous
DVD season sets. Definitely one to buy for fans of the series.
