Some fans think editing down and colorizing the black and white serial DOCTOR WHO- THE DALEKS is controversial. It is. Sometimes
the edit works and sometimes it doesn't. The most distracting thing is the music score which doesn't even sound like a Doctor
Who music score. The colorizing does seem a little sloppy and I wish they used more technology to enhance the quality of
the images and the colors to seem more like the serial was filmed in color instead of being colorized. DOCTOR WHO- THE DALEKS
is the second ever story of the longest running TV series which introduced the most famous foes of the series and it would
be the story that helped solidify the success of the show and begin the longevity of this ever changing show.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
The blu-ray has one featurette on the making of the colorized version of this story.
The DVD is basically the old DVD for DOCTOR WHO- THE DALEKS (all seven half hour episodes in its original black and white)
with featurettes on the making of the story and commentaries (audio commentary and text commentary options).
FINAL ANALYSIS: If you're a classic Doctor Who completist, this is a must for you to own. If you don't want to buy the
colorized cut-down version, it is your choice. I hope they do a better job with any future colorized re-edits of future 1960s
DOCTOR WHO black and white story. I do recommend they get a composer who is more in line with the style of music the show
has or remix the original music to go with the re-edit versions if any future releases do come out.
