CRIMES OF THE FUTURE takes place in a near future world where people are undergoing transformations and mutations in response
to their changing environment. Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen) is a performance artist who removes his new organs as performance
art while trying to adapt to the changes he is going through.
CRIMES OF THE FUTURE is the latest movie from director David Cronenberg. It is the latest body horror movie from him
in the tradition of movies like VIDEODROME, THE FLY, and EXSISTENZ. It is also his latest collaboration with actor Viggo
Mortensen- the first since the excellent EASTERN PROMISES. It is an interesting movie, but I don't know if I actually like
it. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. Maybe repeat viewings will allow me to appreciate it more.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
There are two extras on the disc- theatrical trailers and THE MAKING OF CRIMES OF THE FUTURE which offers a behind-the-scenes
look at the filming of the movie.
FINAL ANALYSIS: Some fans of this movie may be miffed by the late 4K UHD release news and bought the blu-ray when there
was no 4K in sight. CRIMES OF THE FUTURE is an interesting film, but it seems a little detached compared to some of David
Cronenberg's other movies. This one is only for fans of the movie and David Cronenberg diehards who want to own every movie
that David has directed. Proceed with caution. Maybe it will be reevaluated in the years to come.
