THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 starts out great before degrading into a craptacular sequel for the second half of this sequel to last
year's remake. The mutant bad guys are lame and the good mutant is really lame. The gore is great and I did have fun yelling
at the screen as the characters made one more dumb mistake.
National Guard trainees go out into the desert to deliver parts to a team setting up a monitoring system to watch the
mutants in Sector 16. The team is killed for the most part before the not-so-bright trainess come to the camp. They go
searching for the team and the mutants ppick them off one by one. The trainees are a bunch of losers include a couple of
women thrown in. The characters are cardboard cliches- very one dimensional. Too bad the mutants weren't cool as the one
sin the first film. Then I would be cheering for the mutants. I didn't care for any character in this mess. The sequel
just sucks. It is a dog. The actors, script, and direction are really terrible. Some good gore kills stand out and the
rest of the sequel is such a waste.
SPECIAL FEATURES: I do think the deleted scenes and the alternate ending should have stayed in. Is the theatrical ending
better? Is teh alternate ending lame or bring the sequel full circle to the beginning?
BIRTH OF A GRAPHIC NOVEL shows the various steps in creating the comic book prequel.
EXPLORING THE FILLS: THE MAKING OF THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 is a behind-the-scenes look at the sequel with interviews from
various crew members.
Other extras include MUTANTS ATTACK, FOX MOVIE CHANNEL PRESENTS: LIFE AFTER FILM SCHOOL WITH WES CRAVEN, and a gag reel.
Too bad the trailer for the sequel wasn't included on the DVD and only the trailer for the first one.
FINAL ANALYSIS: THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 is a wasted chance. A sequel you can skip. Go watch the superior remake and skip
the sequel to it.
