ONCE is a rarity. It is on the same level or above the level of ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. This low budget musical works with it's rough look and non-actor musicians. An Irish vacuum repair man (Guy) and a Czech immigrant (Girl) get together to make music. If he wasn't so hung up on the girl that cheated on him and she being a long distance from her husband, they could be a couple. Thie kinship creates wonderful music. The music written by the two stars is fantastic.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
Director John Carney and stars Glen Hansard (Guy) and Marketa Irglova (Girl) are featured on a feature audio commentary track and a song specific music audio commentary.

Two featurettes are on the disc:
MAKING OF A MODERN DAY MUSICAL which is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of ONCE while MORE GUY, MORE GIRL explores the two main characters. A one minute animated web promo for ONCE featuring the song "Broken Hearted Hoover Fixer Sucker Guy" . Also you can download the song "Falling Slowly" via a DVD-ROM drive. Finishing off the disc are trailers for Amazing Grace, The Commitments, Blind Dating and 2 Days in Paris.

FINAL ANALYSIS: ONCE is one of my favorite movies of the year (in the top 10). Discover this rough gem on DVD.
