and more.
FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE- 115minutes
ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE- 142 minutes
LIVE AND LET DIE- 122 minutes
FOR HER EYES ONLY- 128 minutes
GOLDENEYE- 130 minutes
STUDIO: MGM. United Artists, SPHE, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment
RELEASE DATE: 12-12-200
Volume 3 is a mixed bag. It has two of my alll-time favorite Bonds- FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE and ON HER MAJESTY'S
SECRET SERVICE. I do wish they had included THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN here instead of the lukewarm LIVE AND LET DIE.
GOLDENEYE has grown on me.
VIDEO (all film are in Anamorphic Widescreen):
FRWL- 1.66:1
lald- 1.85:1
OHMSS, FHEO, GOLDENEYE- 2.35:1
The two big problems are the transfers for LALD and GOLDENEYE. The title sequence for LALD shouldn't look so orange
while GOLDENEYE has been cropped from it's ORIGINAL TRANSFER SEEN IN THE se of that film.
AUDIO: English 5.1 Dolby Digital, English 5.1 DTS, French 5.1 DD
Subtitles- English, French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Thai
(Japanese and Portoguese subtitles are available in addition to the above on disc 2 of each film)
FRWL and OHMSS do have their original audio tracks included, but LALD and FHEO don't. I guess the non-inclusion
is due to the new audio commentaries by Sir Roger Moore on those two titles.
SPECIAL FEATURES: The highlights of this set are newly included deleted scenes for GOLDENEYE and FHEO (FHEO is meh),
vintage interviews, never-before seen on DVD featurettes, and old interviews with Ian Fleming (a CBC interview and a radio
interview between him and Raymond Chandler)
As for featurette included on older DVD releases, the INSIDE FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE and INSIDE ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE
are two gems to watch on the production woes and highs of both films.
FINAL ANALYSIS: JAMES BOND Ultimate Edition Volume 3 is a mixed bag. I hope the transfers for GOLDENEYE and
FOR HER EYES ONLY are addressed soon.
