ANALYSIS: Steven Bochco can craft a great show, but he can also turn out a turkey. I love NYPD Blue. BROOKLYN SOUTH had
it's moments. TOTAL SECURITY was so-so. BLIND JUSTCIE tuned me out. NYPD 2069 had potentional even though FOX didn't pick
it up for series. OVER THER just left me feeling indifferent. The battle scenes are gripping, but the rest of the drama made
me wonder why I should care about these soldiers fighting in Iraq. Maybe if they hit it out of the park with a great script
like the pilot episode for NYPD Blue, OVER THERE would have me eager to tune in. OVER THERE is on target in showing how soldiers
and their families deal with the war in Iraq, but I see no breakout actors that blow me over.
VIDEO: 1.78:1 (Anamorphic)
No complaints about a FOX transfer again. It is really top notch like many other FOX DVDs.
AUDIO: English 2.0 Dolby Surround
Subtitles: None
The audio isn't bad, but I do wish they included an English subtitle track (maybe time constraints to get the pilot out
to DVD was an issue).
EXTRAS: AN INSIDE LOOK featurette on the show features tooo many clips from the show and has interviews with cast and crew
(Steven Bochco and a Marine who is the technical supervisor for the show). Also there are promos for FX shows 9TEH SHIELD,
RESCUE ME, NIP/TUCK, OVER THERE)including upcoming ones like THIEF (which I want to really tune in to see.
FINAL ANALYSIS: OVER THERE is no NYPD BLUE. FOX has done a great job with the DVD, but OVER TEHRE isn't as great a show
as other FX drama series like THE SHIELD, NIP/TUCK, or RESCUE ME.
