ANALYSIS: HAVE GUN-WILL TRAVEL is a classic Western series. Paladin was teh man in black with a gun. Wire San Francisco
and Paladin will come to do the job for $500. Richarad Boone played the no-nonsense gruff tough guy who always knew what justice
meant and had standarads of what he wouldn't do for any amount of money. Paladin is like a travelling knight on a mission.
The writers foudn a way to mix up the format and tell 39 different 25 minute stories. Various famous actors graced the second
season including Charles Bronson and Vincent Price. Even a future creator of a show where no man has gone before wrote a couple
of episodes. One episdoe director stuck out to me, actress Ida Lupino. Paladin has been mistaken for the Devil, been
to Alaska, went after a lottery ticket winner, get knocked out a few times, has his gun stolen, and face off against indians.
HAVE GUN-WILL TRAVEL is a fantastic Western series with some episodes even beating out the quality of Gunsmoke. Paladin is
one man I would want in my corner if I needed help.
The only little screw-up on this DVD Set is that Treasure Trail and Hunt The Man Down are on the wrong discs (Treasure
Trail is supposed to be on disc 3, but it ends up on disc 4 in the place of Hunt The Man Down (which ends up in the spot where
Treasure Trail is supposed to be on disc 3).
VIDEO: 1.33:1 Full Frame/Black and White
The video does look fine for it's age. Blacks, grays, and whites shine. However, some wear does show during the title and
end credits of each episode. Later epsidoes in the season 2 set are missing part of the opening title sequence while others
containa different sequence. A couple of episdoes do look worse for wear (The Man Who Lost on disc five).
AUDIO: English 2.0 Mono
Subtitles: Spanish, English Close Captioning
The audio is a mixed bag. Audio levels vary with some episodes. You may have to turn up your volume control and then turn
it down when you go to another episode. Mono hiss is present
EXTRAS: Each episode features production notes about that episode from guest stars, writers, and directors.
FINAL ANALYSIS: HAVE GUN-WILL TRAVEL is a series that every Western fan can enjoy. If you're fan, buy Season 2 (and Season
1 if you haven't). If you haven't seen Paladin in action give Season 1 or Season 2 a try.
