The Slit Mouthed Woman is an urban legend in Japan. She has a slit across her face where mouth is. She carries a pair of scissors and wears a mask. She kidnaps children and lives in a deserted house with a red roof. Two elementary school teachers start searching for the Slit Mouthed Woman when kids start disappearing. One of them has a startling connecting to the Slit Mouthed Woman. That is the permise of CRAVED- a very entertaing horror film from japan. I don't think I will ever trust the slit Mouthed Woman if I saw her. I think I would run in the other direction. One of the most creepy horror villains ever. The downsie of CARVED is that the women just freeze when they see the Slit-Mouthed Woman. They hit their kids and they seem to be possessed right at the moment when they decide to be motherly again. Of course, the Slit Mouth Woman follows the J-Horror tradition of evil Japanese women ghosts with raven hair. Also CARVED is teh film where I found myself yelling at the film when one of the characters did something stupid. I hope they make a sequel soon. I just now wonder if hollywood will soon snatch up the rights and remake CARVED.

SPECIAL FEATURES: THE MAKING OF CARVED is your usual behinid-the-scenes piece peppered with behind-the-scenes production footage, too many clips from the film, and interviews with cast and crew. The CAST INTERVIEW featurette is a short piece of three interviews (Sato Eriko, Kato Haruhiko, and director Shiraishi Koji). 3 TV spots, the original theatrical trailer, and previews for KOMA, BLOODY REUNION, TEH GHOST, CINDERELLA, and SHUTTER (The Original) round out the extras.

FINAL ANALYSIS: CARVED THE SLIT MOUTHED WOMAN is a flawed and yet entertaining horror film and creates a new horror baddie worth watching. The extras are slight and fluufy. Get it for the film.
