TRIAD ELECTION (aka ELECTI0N 2) picks up two years after the events in ELECTION (see the films in order please). Current
Chairman of the Hong Kong Triad, Lok, doesn't want to give up the seat. It is time for another election. The Chinese government
wants Jimmy (a businessman who wants out of the Triad) to be the next chairman. Jimmy must run if he wants his business interests
in China to keep running. Lok and Jimmy set up a series of events that lead to plenty of violence.
TRIAD ELECTION is a great follow-up to ELECTION, but the events in it just feel like a repeat of the first film. I just
wish Johnnie To had the screenwriters come up with a script with equal proper and creativity to the first film. TRIAD ELECTION
does up the carnage and develop the characters from the events in ELECTION.
SPECIAL FEATURES: THE MAKING OF TRIAD ELECTION is a promo fluff featurette while the two interview featurettes with Lam Ka
Tung and Lam Suet have the actors being asked questions about their characters in ELECTION and TRIAD ELECTION. Also included
is the original theatrical trailer along with previews for other Tartan releases.
FINAL ANALYSIS: TRIAD ELECTION is a nice compliment to ELECTION, but please see thE films in order.
