The third season of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST was teh beginning of the end for the series. Lind Hamilton wanted out of the series
and Catherine was killed off at the start of the series. It began a quest for Vincent (Ron Perlman) to get back his and Catherine's
son (who has been taken by druglord Gabriel responsible for Catherine's death. Gabriel takes extreme measures to get what
he wants and for people to listen to him. Big businessman Elliot Burch finds his empire being taken apart because he is searching
for answers about Catherine's murder and Joe (a lawayer at the New York District Attorney) finds himself suspended because
the DA is in Gabriel's pocket. Enter Detective Diana Bennett (Jo Anderson) who investigate's Catherine's death and become's
a new ally of Vincent and the World Below.
The third season is darker. The tone has changed from the rest of the series. The romance between Vincent and Catherine
is gone, but her presence is still felt. Vincent mourns for Catherine. He escapes death more than once in the quest to find
his son and get his revenge against Gabriel. It would have been interesting to see where the series would have went if it
wasn't cancelled. The last few episodes hint at Diana having a growing attraction to Vincent. Too bad the series didn't
go on for longer.
It is sad that CBS DVD didn't include any extras for this final season. I would have loved to seen a reflection on the third
season from cast and crew.
