LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT is a form of beautiful poetry as dreams are like memories. Memories like dreams can be deceptive as time goes on. I can compare this beautiful visual masterpiece by director Bi Gan to the films of Wong Kar Wai. The first half of the movie weaves through the present and memories of a lost soul who is looking for his mother since she abandoned him when he was a kid. He also recounts the times a woman drifts in and out of his life like a dream. The last hour sifts to a long winding shot as the character's search leads him to this town where he thinks he may have finally caught up with his long lost mother. He navigates the labyrinth of the town's tunnels and streets like a dreamlike trance.

The blu-ray release has the movie presented in both 3D and 2D versions on separate discs.
The extras are on the 2D disc. There is also a booklet that is included in the blu-ray case.

FINAL ANALYSIS: LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT is pure poetry about the dreamlike quality of memory as we one tries to find himself in his own life. It is a hypnotic film experience I would compare o the best films of Wong Kar Wai.
