SITE DISCLAIMERS

He is shot and badly wounded. He is found floating in stormy waters by a Russian fishing boat. He has no memory and a laser device is planted in his hip (that shows his Swiss Bank account). Three weeks later, the man with no memory ( Matt Damon) is finally ashore and takes a train to Zurich. He accesses the account and finds out his name is Jason Bourne. His life starts to turn upside down even more when people are trying to kill him for some reason. Outside of the US Embassy, he pays Marie (Franka Ponte) 10,000 dollars to drive him to Paris. Thus the action and adventure has only started in the film adaptation of the Robert Ludlum novel, THE BOURNE IDENTITY, directed by Doug Liman (who directed the really cool movie GO).

THE BOURNE IDENTITY is an action spy thriller that isnt too bad to spend two hours watching, but it doesnt really answer the questions like the book did and the villains werent as cool as the ones in the book. It seems like the script uses too little of Robert Ludlums novel and just leaves an exciting, but generic spy thriller. The direction is top notch and the acting is good. Franka Ponte just gives me a new person to have a crush on. Franka is an attractive German actress (who starred in RUN LOLA RUN which I should really go rent or buy).

IMPOSTOR is a sci-fi movie delayed and delayed until Dimension decided to release it. IMPOSTOR is based on the sci-fi short story, The Impostor by Phillip K. Dick. This movie first saw life as a forty minute segment of a sci-fi anthology film of three stories. Two were filmed and Dimension liked IMPOSTOR so much that it was expanded into a full length movie (the short film is included on the DVD).  IMPOSTOR takes place in the late twentieth-first century when aliens from Alpha Centauri are trying to take over earth and have bombarded the planet to the point where cities are under protective energy fields. Gary Sinise stars as Spencer Olham, a scientist who has created a weapon that may end the war. Spencer has wife (played by Madeleine Stowe) and tomorrow night is when the president of the global Earth government will be in the city where Spencer and his wife live. Spencer wakes up the next day to find government security agents saying he is an android with a bomb inside him. Spencer doesnt believe this and escapes. IMPOSTOR is a sci-fi thrill ride with one hell of a twist for an ending.  Highly recommended.

EPOCH is one of those movies that first appeared on the Sci-Fi channel last year. It is about a huge rock that comes out of the ground and hovers above the ground. A US military team is sent to investigate the rock which can heal people and cause electrical disruptions. The four billion year old rock is responsible for all life on Earth, but is it here to bring about humanitys doom now? David Keith stars as Mason Rand, a civilian who has cancer and 12 months to live. He can decipher any type of technology and figures how it works. He is picked by Dr. KC Czaban (Stephanie Niznik) who heads the investigation team backed by the military to investigate this monolithic rock. It isnt a bad sci-fi B movie. It makes you think despite the obvious clichés that pop in the movie.

Now to a little opinion on other things. I have recently discovered the funny British sitcom COUPLING which is like FRIENDS in some aspects, but it is more daring, funny, and not bland. It is about six friends who talk about relationships and sex. Some have been involved with each other in the past while a couple of them, Steve and Susan, are seeing each other. I highly recommend that you check the series out on your local PBS station or BBC America before NBC puts out the bland Americanized series. Now I hope BBC America put this one out on VHS and DVD. Also I have had the chance to actually see ARE YOU BEING SERVED AGAIN? Which is the funny sequel to the equally funny Britcom ARE YOU BEING SERVED?. It just goes to show I think most American sitcoms are dumb and bland while many British sitcoms like RED DWARF, ALLO ALLO, and BLACK ADDER are better and funnier.  American sitcoms tend to bland and tone things done and be safe (and dumb). It is a sickening trend that has been going on for years.
