Many things going on and many little news items.
I happened to catch the the Guest Chat at http://www.roddenberry.com with actor Walter Koenig best know as Star Trek's Chekov and Bester on Babylon 5. He answered two questions
of mine. I asked 'Whatever happened to the Moontrap sequel? Also, would you ever be interested in writinga Star
Trek novel on Chekov?'. This was his reply- "The fact we never went foward witha Moontrap sequel is dissapointing
to me. I read the screenplay for the second film and it was really quite good. It all boils down to money
and or lack of it. Ultimately the financing fell out. As I said before, I have no burning desire to write Star
trek fiction. I might be talked into writing a Chekov Novel under the proper circumstances."
Next, I watched ATOMIC TWISTER on TBS Sunday, and it is a cliched piece of crap
that could have used better writers instead of releasing this piece of atomic dung on the viewing public. On the upcoming
Sunday, there are premieres of three series: the two hour second season premiere of WITCHBLADE at 8 pm ET with an encore at
10 pm ET and a new episode on Monday at 9 pm ET on TNT, the debut of THE DEAD ZONE starring Anthony Michael Hall as Johnny
Smith who gets in a car wreck and has the power to see the future (and such) after waking up froma six year coma, and
the premiere of CRIME AND PUNISHMENT- a Law and Order reality series that falls certain cases over a six month period ina
San Diego courthouse and it's filmed likea Law and order episode. The first two sound good, but the reality series
is a maybe.
Next, UPN is showing repeats of WOLF LAKE episodes that haven't been seen since their original broadcast last fall.
This started last Wednsday after Enterprise. the first repeat airing is of the second episode, "The Changing".
Catch this show and watch what there is of this nine episode series that has been cancelled. Only if they would
show the original pilot to Wolf Lake that featured a different storyline, Luke Diamond Phillips asa different character, and
some characters that don't show up in the second pilot and the eight episodes after that. You will hear all about
the original pilot soon I promise. Just keep checking back.
Finally, FIREFLY fandom is growing even though the series won't be shown until this fall and that no critics have seen
the original two hour pilot which is being held over to be shown during the first season and a new one hour pilot will be
shown first (and it will take place after the original two hour pilot- "Serenity"). FOX wants more action with drama
where Joss Wheon (the guy who created Buffy the Vampire Slayer) created the show as a drama with action. FIREFLY is
about the people who fought on the side of an intergalactic civl war and lost. This is their story 400 years into
the future after that war is over. You can read more about it at the official site-
http://www.fox.com/firefly and the best fan site on it so far-
http://www.fireflyfans.net which started a couple of months ago where as teh official sit has just appeared. I hope FIREFLY will last
even though some think it is in the time slot of doom (on a Friday). Hopefully, enough people will tune in to
watch the show on FOX so it doesn't face quick cancellation, or FOX gets wise and moves the show to a better day like Wednsday
or Thursday. Stay tuned and keep hoping good things come on TV always. Have a better one.
