WARCRAFT is fast paced fantasy action film wher eth CGI is a little over-ambitious (and could have required more work to make the film’s VFX blend with the live action better).   I did enjoy the movie (even though I have never and probably never will play the games).   It sets things up for a sequel, but Universal and Legendary may have to find a way to make the sequel cheaper to make despite the huge box office performance in China.   The movie is minimal on characterization and more involved with creating a world with battles, CG ogres, and landscapes created on the computer.

FINAL ANALYSIS: WARCRAFT has great making-of extras even though I wish three of the featurettes weren’t a Best Buy exclusive.  The movie does stay true to the storyline of the game universe, but I wonder what a longer cut of the movie would be like 9since Duncan Jones has mentioned how he cut the movie down from three hours to its current length.  I do hope a sequel is in the works (since China has proved to be a big part of the movie’s box office).
