SYNCHRONICITY is a time travel noir love story.  Jim (Chad McKnight) is a physicist working on a time travel experiment which is seeking investment from greedy industrialist Klaus Meisner (Michael Ironside).   Things get more complicated after Jim meets Abby (Brianne Davis) that he falls for before he begins to suspect she could be playing a game on him with Klaus to steal away his invention.  Before long, Jim finds himself as a part of the experiment as he goes back in the past in his attempt to prevent losing his invention of time travel to Klaus.

SYNCHRONICITY is a low budget independent film which has a great score reminiscent of BLADE RUNNER and other 1980s sci-fi movies with a film noir look with downtown Atlanta, Georgia being used for film locations to give a retro futuristic look to this time travel tale which blends sci-fi with film noir.   Abby is the femme fatale while Jim is the dupe who is trying to get himself out of the mess he finds himself in.   The theories on time travel match what I believe time travel would be like which would involve parallel universes and timelines with infinite possibilities.   This movie is one of the best and most intelligent sci-fi movies I have seen and it ranks up there with some of the best time travel movies like PRIMER and PREDESTINATION.

The audio commentary with writer/ director Jacob Gentry discusses the influences from 1970s and 1980s sci-fi (and Russian sci-fi like Tarkovsky’s sci-fi movies) along with the film noir that the movie pays homage to.  He admits to the movie being lighted like BLADE RUNNER along with giving plenty of information on the making of the movie.

INTERVIEW WITH ATCOR CHAD MCKNIGHT- he talks about the role and his love for some of the same movies on TCM (that the director also likes)

INTERVIEW WITH BRIANNE DAVIS- she talks about the character of Abby and her chemistry with Chad McKnight

INTERVIEW WITH WRITER/ DIRECTOR JACOB GENTRY- he talks about the movie with some of the same details being covered in the excellent audio commentary

Theatrical trailer for SYNCHRONICTY along with a music video called “Time Travel” set to part of the music score and clips from the movie

PREVIEWS for THE WAVE, THE LADY IN THE CAR WITH GLASSES AND A GUN, and a documentary on the National Lampoon magazine

FINAL ANALYSIS:  SYNCHROCITY is one of the best time travel film noir love stories I have ever seen and it is worth buying for repeat viewing.
