Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) wakes up in a hospital in Florence with no memory of the last two days.  He is on the run with Dr. Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones) as he tries to find a deadly virus that dead billionaire Bertrand Zobrist (Ben Foster) is intending to release as a radical means of getting rid of half the world’s population.  Langdon and Sienna follow the clues left by Dante’s Inferno as the World Health Organization and an unknown organization (employed by Zobrist) also on their tail.

INFERNO is the third movie in the Robert Langdon movie series based on the fourth novel by Dan Brown.   The movie has excellent casting with great direction from Ron Howard in this fast paced thriller with twists and turns.   It blends history with Indiana Jones type action with a hero who is more cerebral and less physical than Dr. Jones.  Still INFERNO is a race against time movie that will delight fans of these type of movies and fan of the previous two movies (and the books).

SPECIAL FEATURES:

27 minutes of extended scenes cut for pacing purposes and the extra stuff would have slowed down and even confused parts of the plot.

The featurettes do give spoilers for the movie and it is recommended that you watch the movie before you dive into them.

VISIONS OF HELL- a promotional featurette on the new movie

INFERNO AROUND THE WORLD- all about the international cast and locations in the movie

A LOOK AT LANGDON- Tom Hanks, the screenwriter David Koepp, director Ron Howard, and the producers discuss the challenges the character faces in INFERNO and how it is different for Langdon in this movie

THIS IS SIENNA BROOKS- Felicity Jones, David Koepp, Ron Howard, and the producers discuss the complex female character who is Langdon’s equal

THE BILLIONAIRE VILLIAN: BERTRAND ZOBRIST- actor Ben Foster and the crew talk about Zobrist and the differences between the book and movie as in regards to Zobrist

RON HOWARD, A DIRECTOR’S JOURNAL- a behind-the-scenes look at the production of Inferno through Ron Howard’s posting of pics on social media

FINAL ANALYSIS:  I really enjoyed INFERNO like I did the other two film adaptations of the Dan Brown novels in the Robert Langdon series (THE DAVINCI CODE and ANGELS AND DEMONS).   The extended scenes are an insight into how a movie should be tightened and what should be cut.
