THE DEAD DON'T DIE is Jim Jarmusch's take on the zombie genre as a comedy. It is an interesting hit and miss movie that
takes place in the small US town of Centerville with a large cast of actors (Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Steve
Buscemi, Iggy Pop, RZA, Selena Gomez, Danny Glover, Rosie Perez, Tom Waits, and others). It follows a pair of Sheriff Deputies
(played by Bill Murray and Adam Driver), the weird undertaker (Tilda Swinton), and various towns folk. The dead start to
come alive and gravitate to the things they liked most in life (coffee, cable) while wanting living human brains. This is
the type of movie with a great cast that just wants to work with a director they have worked with or wanted to work with.
THE DEAD DON'T DIE doesn't give the movie enough room to develop and let you know the characters more. Every character comes
off as underdeveloped.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
The featurettes are basic promo fluff that you can skip:
BILL MURRAY: ZOMBIE HUNTING ACTION STAR
STICK TOGETHER
BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE DEAD DON'T DIE which is a series of six mini-featurettes which you can skip too
A code to download and stream the movie is also included
FINAL ANALYSIS: THE DEAD DON'T DIE isn't the best film effort from Jim Jarmusch. Rent it or you might be better off checking
out better films from the director like ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE, DEAD MAN, GHOST DOG, or BROKEN FLOWERS.
