Selene is being hunted by the Vampires and Lycans.  The vampires want to kill her, but a couple of the vampires (Thomas (Charles Dance) and Semira (Laura Pulver)) convince the council of vampires to pardon and bring in Selene to train the new Death Dealers (Only to see Selene betrayed by a couple of other vampires who just want her blood).   Meanwhile, the Lycans are really organized by their new leader Marius who has been pushing the vampires back to the edge of defeat.   Marius wants the blood of Selene’s hybrid daughter, but Selene doesn’t know where her daughter is and doesn’t want to know in fear her blood will lead them to her daughter.  Selene with the help of David (the son of Thomas as played by the returning Theo James who is probably happy to have a job since the Divergent series looks finished) go north to the legendary vampire stronghold of Vador up in Norway.   Selene seeks answers and peace, but she learns the Nordic vampires visit the other side and gain new powers (and awareness).

 

UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS brings the UNDERWORLD series full circle and brings a conclusion to the series if a sixth UNDERWORLD movie isn’t made (which Len Wiseman says is in development, but his divorce to actress Kate Beckinsale might stall the sequel and yet she seems to get along with her ex-boyfriend (from years ago) Michael Sheen very well).  It expands the Underworld mythos further by introducing the Nordic vampires and shows Selene feeling like it is the end for her while also providing a  resolution for the character of Michael (since Scott Speedman said he will never be back to play the character).  UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS has a mix of vampire couture, action sequences, Nordic vampires, Theo James and Charles Dance returning, familiar British actors playing new characters, and Selene rocking white hair in the later part of the movie.   If we don’t see Selene ever again in another movie, UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS is a great final treat for fans of the series.  

 

P.S.  I still would like to see another prequel which acts as a sequel to UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS.
