ANALYSIS:
Harry Potter is being protected from the forces of Lord Voldemort as he, Hermione, and Ron search for the Horcruxes which contain Voldemort's soul.  They learn about the three most powerful objects in the world known as the Deathly Hollows which Lord Voldemort is out to find.   They find one of the Horcruxes which bring out the worst in whomever wears it.  Ron gets jealous of Harry when it comes to Hermione

This is the beginning of the end of the HARRY POTTER saga as the final book, HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS, is split up into two movies (part 2 will be out in July 2011).   Part 1 is as good as the previous Harry Potter film entries directed by David Yates, and this film shows how the characters have grown since the first film came out many years ago.   Audiences have grown with the actors as they grew with playing their characters.  harry Potter feels a great wait on his shoulders as the time is near when he must face Lord Voldemort in a battle where only one will survive.

I will be sad to see this saga to end.  yet the journey of watching these movies have been a great experience as a film fanatic and movie reviewer.  The first two films were a little dry where different directors since then have made this series into a good film series.   HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS Part 1 is a quest film and a journey to survive for our characters.   Harry, Hermione, and Ron take on finishing Dumbledore's work.   They must find a way to destroy the Horcruxes as Dumbledore leaves them items in his will (that will help them in their quest).   Also they must survive as they are hunted.    The first part of THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS is the start of the end where Part 2 will the climax to a saga that millions love worldwide.   I can't wait to see how it ends on the big screen (I hope they decide not to go 3D with Part 2 like they decided no to do 3D with Part 1).      It is a better Harry Potter film for some fans of the book since the decision to split the book into two movies allows more of the plot to stay intact.   I do enjoy this one more than the last HARRY POTTER film.  HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS Part 1 is one of the best fantasy films for this season.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
The Blu-rays extras disc has several Behind The Scenes extras including
a couple on the special effects like THE SEVEN HARRYS, joining four of the cast members (Rupert, Tom, Oliver, and James) for golfing, and the running competition between Dan, Rupert, and Emma.

Eight deleted scenes include a few character moments cut from the film, an opening scene from THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS Part 2, a behind the scenes look at the soundtrack, and a preview of the Wizarding School in Orlando, Florida.

The Best Buy bonus Blu-ray disc has
HARRY POTTER: BEHIND THE MAGIC- a 45  minute behind-the-scenes look at the special effects and the making of the film that aired on ITV in the UK (hosted by Ben Shepard).

HARRY POTTER: ON THE ROAD- cast and crew discuss this film as a road film and the locations used.

Also the set has a digital copy and a DVD (which has no extras).

FINAL ANALYSIS:   HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS Part 1 is OK for extras, but it is a toss-up between the Best Buy exclusive, the two disc special edition DVD exclusive at Walmart, or just the regular Blu-ray set.  However, this film is one of the best in the series.
