CRAWLSPACE is an impressive sci-fi action thriller made on a low budget with only a couple of effects shots showing how low the budget was on this film (outside shots of the Pine Gap facility which I think model photography instead of bad CGI could have saved those shots). An elite military unit is sent in to extract a group of scientists from a secret facility (called Pine Gap which is jointly run by the Australians and American military) out in the middle of the Australian Outback.  Their orders are also to kill the subjects at Pine Gap to learn that the facility’s real purpose is to create the perfect psychic soldiers.  The elite team comes across Eve, a woman with no memory.  The leader of the team wants to save her while the other members of the team want to get rid of her.  They discover that the biggest enemy may be themselves as they might not be able to trust what they see or hear.

Audio commentary with Director Justin Dix and actors Eddie Baroo, Amber Clayton, and Fletcher Humphrys as they make jokes about a prequel or a sequel for CRAWLSPACE during the end credits like psychically controlling kangaroos in the desert).

The second audio commentary is with Director Justin Dix and Editor Dave Redman as they discuss the story and the making of the film.

The thirty minute behind-the-scenes featurette has interviews with cast and crew as they reveal how the movie came together and was made.  The director was amazed he got all of his first choices for the parts along with the usual behind-the-scenes footage and even clips from the actors’ screen tests.

Rounding out the extras is the trailer for CRAWLSAPCE.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  CRAWLSPACE is the best low budget sci-fi film since CUBE.   It is an intense sci-fi action thriller with a  dense script, great actors, good production design, and excellent direction with moody cinematography.
