Volume 3 collect
episodes 14 to 19 and Volume 4 collects episodes 20 to 26 of the popular animated series on Disney XD. THE AVENGERS:
EARTH'S MIGHTIEST HEROES is the best Marvel animated series I have seen so far. Superior to X-MEN and much better than
SPIDER-MAN. This show has the level of storytelling you see in the BATMAN animated series. These
two volumes were released in time for CAPTAIN AMERICA's release on DVD and Blu-ray. It also doesn't hurt that five of
the Avengers in the animated series are also characters in the upcoming live-action film (four of those five are featured
on the cover of the DVDs.
The story arcs sometimes last for a few episodes and even a previous thread picks up episodes
later. THE AVENGERS has excellent continuity. Many recognizable villains and characters (to comic book fans)
are featured like the Masters of Evil, Kang, Ultron, Hydra, Nick Fury (I will always think of Nick Fury as a white guy and
not Samuel L. Jackson), and Black Widow. This animated series honors the comic books that everything is drawn
from. I hope Walt Disney Home entertainment and Marvel Entertainment releases some episodes of season 2 to coincide
with the release of THE AVENGERS film in May 2012.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
Each volumes features an animated in-episode comic book
fact track that reveals facts about the heroes and villains in the series. Volume 3's AVENGERS UNMASKED focuses on MASTERS
OF EVIL while volume 4 has an animated in-episode experience for HAIL, HYDRA!
FINAL ANALYSIS: THE AVENGERS: EARTH'S MIGHTIEST
HEROES is a very enjoyable animated series. A perfect primer for fans waiting for the live action version of THE AVENGERS
next year.
