DISC 3- MATERNAL INSTINCT/ THERE'S ONLY ONE SYDNEY BRISTOW/ 30 SECONDS/ I SEE DEAD PEOPLE/ NO HARD FEELINGS

DSIC 4- REPRISAL/ ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD

ALIAS had a long run and season 5 was the end. Many fans unfairly hated it, but it brought everything to a head. On one side, it is the story of superspy Sydney Bristow (Jennifer Garner) working for off the books CIA outfit known as APO. On the other hand, it is also Arvin Sloane's (Ron Rifkin) story. I may not agree with some of the decisions the writers make near the end of season 5, but it is a wild ride from start to finish. The only big complaint is the last episode felt rushed and should have been two episodes long.

Season 5 begins with Vaugan apparently dying from gunshot wounds at teh end of PROPHET FIVE. Sydney and APO are drawn into the fight to stop Prophet Five who are very obesessed with power and all things Rambaldi. They enlist Sloane in exchange for a cure to his daughter Nadia's illness. Returning characters include Sark (David Anders), a certain bad black female assassin, and Irina (Sydney's mom played by Lena Olin); and guest stars include the wonderful Patrick Bauchau. Also don't forget Amy Acker as one of the bad guys woorking for Prophet Five.

VIDEO: 1.78:1 (Anamorphic Widescreen)

The iamge quality is good, but grain does show in low light scenes.

AUDIO: English 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround

Subtitles: English SDH, Spanish

Music and sound effects never drowns out the dialogue (it is always easy to hear).

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Four episodic audio commentaries were recorded for this set-

PROPHET FIVE with actor Victor Garber, director Ken Olin, and executive producer Jeff Pinkner

BOB with actors Rachel Nichols and David Anders, writers Monica Breen and Alison Schapker

HORIZON with director Tucker Gates, writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec

THERE'S ONLY ONE SYDNEY BRISTOW with ALIAS production assistants Sparky Hawes, Brian Studler, Cliff Olin, and Chris Hollier

The commentaries for PROPHET FIVE and THE HORIZON are the best of the bunch while the other two are more of the people haviong fun. Shame that the promised audio commentary for ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD with Jennifer Garner and creator J.J. Abrams isn't included on the set. All the press release promised deleted scenes, but you will only see the season 5 delted scenes on the bonus disc if you buy the Rambaldi set (which includes all five seasons in cool packaging). Do I think someone screwed up and left these extras off by accident? Maybe. The deleted scenes should have been on the season 5 set and the muissiong audio commentary could have been do to a screw-up or no time to get together to record it.

CELEBRATING 100- a behind the secens look at the making of episode 100 and the 100th episode party

THE LEGEND OF RAMBALDI- It begins as a documentary on Rambaldi before becoming a featurette about cast and crew talking about Rambaldi and the Rambaldi artifacts created for the series.

HEIGHTENING THE DRAMA: THE MUSIC OF ALIAS- praise for the music of composer Michael Giacchino, a look at the recording of the music for THE HORIZON, and the composer talking about the music for ALIAS (he used less techno over time before it was gone completely from the music he composed for the show.

THE NEW RECRUIT: ON THE SET WITH RACHEL NICHOLS- the camera follows the actress around during the filming of BOB and bloopers from BOB (and NO HARD FEELINGS).

THE BLOOPERS OF ALIAS features actors having fun on the set and bursting into laughter. Jennifer Garner has some of the most fun during some takes.

Hidden featurettes on disc 4 include one inside Carl Lumbly's trailer, Farewell from the Cast Of ALIAS, and the SFX work required for the final scene of HORIZON.

Don't forget to watch the Milo Rambaldi preview in the Sneak Peeks section of Disc 4.

FINAL ANALYSIS: ALIAS finishes where ti should. The final episode should have been two. This set is a must own for ALIAS fans, but shame on the season 5 deleted scenes not being on this set (and only on a bonus disc if you buy the Rambaldi set).
