VANTAGE POINT
movie review by David Blackwell

90 minutes, rated PG-13
ASPECT RATIO: 2.35:1

STARRING Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, William Hurt, Forest Whitaker, Edgar Ramirez, Sigourney Weaver
WRITTEN by Barry Levy
DIRECTED by Pete Travis

STUDIO: Columbia Pictures/ Relativity Media/ Original Film
Theatrical RELEASE DATE: 2-22-2008

VANTAGE POINT follows the attempted assassination of the US President (William Hurt) in a Spanish town through multiple points of view. The story unfolds as it adds more puzzle pieces as it delivers into a knockdown third act. You follow the story through the eyes of the news people of GNN, the Secret Service, the ones behind the plot, a tourist, and the President.

VANTAGE POINT is a thriller that kept me watching despite the times that the rewinding to 23 minutes ago (to 12:00 pm) did get on my nerves a couple of times, but each time it delivered more of the story as all of the pieces fell into place. VANTAGE POINT will do well on DVD. The storytelling is nothing new, but it will reward some who stay with it long enough.
