I have loved TORCHWOOD from the start.  It's not a perfect series by any means.   Still the first two seasons (excluding the sex, swearing, and extreme violence) is more in the direction some episodes DOCTOR WHO should have taken (without trying to cater too much to the kiddies- I believe DOCTOR WHO did a great balance of this before Russell T Davies brought the series back and I know DOCTOR WHO is somewhat of a family sci-fi series in some aspects when it started).  I appreciated TORCHWOOD more in some ways compared to the new DOCTOR WHO and this new TORCHWOOD series is better than any of the recent DOCTOR WHO special episodes.

TORCHWOOD: CHILDREN OF EARTH is bleak and relentless.  The TORCHWOOD team is down to three: Cptain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), Gwen Cooper, and Ianto Jones.  Now members of the government are trying to kill them to prevent their meddling in the government's dealings with a mysterious and sinister alien race only known by the frequency it uses, 456.  The 456 use the children to announce their coming.  They want more children- many more than the 12 the government exchanged back in 1965.  It's up to Jack, Gwen, Ianto, and Gwen's husband (Rhys) to stop the 456 somehow while being on the run from a government hit squad.

TORCHWOOD: CHILDREN OF EARTH is a five epsiode season (aka season three).  It is the best TORCHWOOD yet.  It shows Captain jack Harkness as a flawed hero who always wasn't a hero.  I can't wait to see how the end is resolved is and when TORCHWOOD returns.  Jack makes hard choices that some may hate him for.  This season is about the sins of the past and the evil choices some think they're justified to make.  Some people may hate Jack for the tough choice he makes at the end.

The only extras ia thirty minute making of- TORCHWOOD: DECLASSIFIED.  Every episode of TORCHWOOD: DECLASSIFIED is an excellent look into the making of the series and this one gives a good look into the making of CHILDREN OF EARTH.
