Jeeja Yanin plays a kick ass bike messenger who delivers packages for rival mob bosses.  The action if great in this film, but the rest of THIS GIRL IS BAD ASS is just plain silly and dumb despite some great action scenes.  It becomes a listless film where you wish for more action and a plot that would make more sense (or at least be more fun).  I don’t why action stars like Tony Jaa and Jeeja Yanin get stuck in these badly written action films where they should be embracing better scripts and focus on what makes them appeal to a wider audience beyond Thailand.  Jeeja was amazing in CHOCOLATE which had more action scene than THIS GIRL IS BADASS which could have been saved if it featured more action with Jeeja instead of spending too much time developing the other characters and their own lives.

The film plays out too much like a soap opera with a personality disorder as it wanders from Jeeja’s boss who dresses in strange costumes to her Uncle Wang (who is in love with the beautiful laundry woman) to the beautiful guitarist she swoons for to the dope who has been in love with her since she saved him from being beat up as a kid.  Then they even turn the mob bosses into silly cartoon characters in addition to the hit man who sings his own song of death (which was quite an entertaining touch) and the beautiful bad women who want to beat up Jeeja.  I say you should go watch (or rewatch) CHOCOLATE instead of THIS GIRL IS BADASS which is a silly action soap opera comedy that doesn’t keep the focus on Jeeja kicking butt enough.  It also puts forward that the ugly guys might get the girl while the beautiful women can’t get the beautiful guys.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

THE MAKING OF THIS GIRL IS BADASS is a short promotional featurette that ahs interviews with the cast and director (who also plays Uncle Wang).

The Behind-The-Scenes footage amounts to two minutes.

Also on the disc are the international theatrical trailer and previews for other releases from Magnolia Home Entertainment.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  THIS GIRL IS BADASS will disappoint fans of Jeeja who are expecting as much action as they saw in CHOCOLATE.  The movie wanders around too much and focuses on other characters other the bike messenger and being too silly with not enough action.
