David Vincent ( Roy Thinnes) continues to fight the alien invaders as he comes across plot after plot by the aliens and even attempts to expose the aliens.  The second season sees a shift as architect David Vincent begins to gain allies in his cause to stop (and expose) the invaders.   The first season had David's life turned upside down as he witnesses the landing of an alien spaceship.   It was an experiment in paranoia as David didn't know who he could trust.  The second season shifts away from that as more people know what David saw despite the inclusion of the paranoia.  Even a few times, the aliens even help David (an alien secretary helps him stop the assassination of world leaders in THE SUMMIT).  His new allies include millionaire Edgar Scoville (Kent Smith) in teh second half of the season.

THE INVADERS only lasted two seasons, but it had a profound impact on many shows (FIRST WAVE and THE X-FILES).    This second season had a few guest stars returning (just in different roles) in addition to new guest stars (Gene Hackman).  It is interesting to see more of the invasion from the Invaders POV (TASK FORCE, THE PEACEMAKER).    The aliens try to kill, torture, and even discredit David Vincent.   I wish we would have seen more of the fall out of David's quest on his life.   Still I wonder if the series would have good or bad if it made it to a third season.   Still most of the writing and acting is top caliber.  I wish I had THE INVADERS title narration as a ring tone.

SPECIAL FEATURES;

Each episode features an option to play them with newly recorded episode intros by series star Roy Thinnes (some are very spoilerly while the Chris Carter story before THE SPORES is classic.    The Roy Thinnes interview includes bits on how was it to work on the show, the lack of a blooper reel, a birthday party given by fans, and the big popularity of THE INVADERS in France.  Also featured on the set is an audio commentary by Alan Armer for THE PEACEMAKER.   Too bad they didn't have a featurette on how fans react to the series.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  THE INVADERS holds up even though I liked season one better.   Now someone needs to release FIRST WAVE to DVD.
