The second season of REVENGE is very
uneven compared to the addictive first season. It expands the conspiracy as Emily
Thorne’s plot to expose and bring down those responsible for framing her father as a terrorist meets some hurdles. She
wants to clear the Clarke family name. One character comes back from the dead
(in true soap opera fashion) while another character meets their death thankfully.
The first season of REVENGE was an addictive experience, but season 2 made me want to tune out at times as I think
REVENGE would have better played out as a short form series or mini series instead of a TV drama that plays out over multiple
seasons. The plot with Emily’s mother (Jennifer Jason Leigh) is a huge
misfire. Season 2 does throw multiple plot lines only to course correct
all the mess created by the unfocused nature of season 2.
For those of you who haven’t
been following revenge, Emily is Amanda Clarke who has taken over the identity of the real Emily Thorne (who is posing as
Amanda). A man from Emily’s past shows up and starts to help her
with her revenge. Amanda has Jack Porter’s baby while other events conspire
against Jack that gets him over his head as Conrad Grayson schemes for more power.
Nolan Ross finds romance only to find some unexpected twists in his own life.
Emily’s quest for revenge may be going off the rails as her romantic life takes over or so it seems. Declan Porter has more problems in his personal life as he still pines for Charlotte Grayson

SCHOOLED IN REVENGE- a three minute
video promo for the novel, SCHOOLED IN REVENGE
THE SOUND OF REVENGE is a behind-the-scenes
look at the process of writing and recording the score for an episode of REVENGE with the man responsible for the distinct
musical score. It is my favorite extra in the set as it gives a personal touch
in the process and mind of the composer along with appearances from the show’s star and the show’s creator.
HAUTE HAMPTONS: DRESSING MISS
DAVENPORT is a look at how clothes and color help define the character of Ashley Davenport for episodes of the show.
FINAL ANALYSIS: REVENGE season 2 is a train wreck which isn’t the addictive pleasure season one was. Hopefully season 3 will be better and the course correcting brings the central premise back into focus.
