A man (Jay Duplass) and his teenage daughter (Sophie Thatcher) have a contract to mine precious gems on a moon with a poisonous atmosphere. Things go wrong and the teenage girl has to ally herself with someone else (Pedro Pascal) to survive.

PROSPECT is the little sci-fi movie that could. It manages to create an expansive sci-fi universe from the setting, costumes, production design, and the little bits in the story. This feature film is based on the 14 minute short film from DUST. PROSPECT shows you can create a great sci-fi movie without huge budgets and battle scenes with loads of CGI. The limitations and low budget has created a sci-fi classic you should watch if you’re looking for something other than the standard sci-fi action fare that is common in the marketplace of movies and TV.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
Audio commentary with the two directors of the movie

A behind-the-scenes featurette that clocks in less than five minutes as the directors show and talk about the prop shop they built to create the props, costumes, and sets in addition to filming on location in a rain forest for three weeks as the actors had to endure hot costumes.

Two deleted scenes including one that has a character that doesn’t appear in the final cut.

FINAL ANALYSIS: PROSPECT is an impressive low budget sci-fi feature. The extras are good, but I wish the original PROSPECT short film was included on this disc (you can view it on the DUST YouTube channel)
