Dastan is the adopted son of a royal family of Persia- a prince of no royal blood.   He and his brothers invade a city believing it to have weapons destined for an enemy.   Dastan gets entangled with the princess of the city, Tamina.   Soon he finds himself on the run after being framed for the death od the King of Persia (his adopted father).   Someone in the royal family is also after a dagger that can rewind time and Tamina was supposed to guard it.  She even tries to get the dagger back from Dastan.

PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME is a very enjoyable and entertaining film, but it proves to be ultimately pointless.   It is popcorn entertainment that makes you feeling empty after seeing the ending.   You have a fine cast of actors in a video game adventure which is nice to watch and yet you wouldn't be missing anything if you never seen this film.   Unless the script and ending are better for a sequel, I think I will skip out on PRINCE OF PERSIA the next time.
