Tim and Kaylie Russell (Karen Gillan) come home to the house where their parents might have been victims of the evil Lasser Glass- a mirror that have passed down from person to person over the decades.   OCULUS is a movie that plays with your head as the mirror plays with the heads of the brother and sister as it flashes back and forth between when they’[re grown up and when they were kids.  I do wish the movie was more ambiguous like the director wanted to make it and kept the end credits coda.  OCULUS has plenty of twists and creepy moments in addition to Katee Sackhoff playing the mother of the two main characters (who goes off the hinges).  I liked how Kaylie went through the history of the Lasser Glass and hope a sequel taps into one of those stories mentioned in the history.

Six deleted scenes (with optional audio commentary by director Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy) with an alternate coda I wish they kept in (but some test audiences hated).

OCULUS original short (CHAPTER 3: MAN WITH A PLAN) which has an optional audio commentary which goes over the challenges of making a low budget short which was originally one of nine planned shorts- it is more interesting to watch the short that inspired the movie more than watching it without the commentary.

FINAL ANALYSIS: OCULUS isn’t a bad horror film at all.  I hope a sequel gets made.
