KYLE XY was an amazing surprise. Months after season one came out to DVD, I sat down and devoured the set. I enjoyed the chaarcters of Kyle and the Tragger family. He discover new things about himself while the mysterious Tom Foss tries to protect him from the lab that created Kyle. I wanted Kyle and Amanda to get together. Then came season 2. The writers outdid themselves by delivering a season even better than the first. They introduce a female charcter just like Kyle- only that she is a darker than him when it comes to the soul. Jessi XX is the type of girl where you feel the sparks between her and Kyle. It makes me forget that poor Amanda girl. Foss trains Kyle so Kyle can harness his newfound abilities before he discovers his creator Adam Baylin isn't quite dead as he lead everyone to belive.

Meanwhile, Maddacorp wants the computer knowledge that Kyle downloaded into his brain before Foss broke him out of that lab (that Foss later belew up which caused Jessi to escape). Also Josh Tragger gets involved with a teeenage girl, Andi, who has cancer. How Kyle deals with Andi's cancer leaves a big question on whether Kyle did something or not when it comes to her cancer. KYLE XY is like a more grounded and realistic version of SMALLVILLE with better writing and no Krypto muties of the week. SMALLVILLE suffered from some bad character writing where KYLE XY doesn't suffer from it yet. SMALLVILLE is trapped by established mythology where KYLE XY can create it. I wish SMALLVILLE was as good as this show. I love the characters from the good guys to the bad guys. The mythology develops nicely and i can't wait to see when Kyle hooks up with Jessi (Amanda now so bores me compared to Jessi).

SPECIAL FEATURES:

Three featurettes provide a some fluff like LIVIN' WITH THE X's (disc 3) which looks at one work day for the two leads- Matt Dallas and Jaime Alexander, a promo featurette on disc 3 talking about what to expect in season 3, and THE SCIENCE OF KYLE XY (disc 6) where the producers and writers explain they always try to make the show grounded by science.

However, the real goodies are to be found in the deleted scenes which were cut for various reasons like making the episodes better and episode length.   An alternate ending for LEAP OF FAITH and cut scenes for PRIMARY COLORS are the best of the lot.   Next the svene audio commentaries with cast and crew reveal production stories and hint at what will be explored in season 3.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  KYLE XY season 2 is even better than season one.  Check out the sveral deleted scenes and listen to the audio commentaries (or read them with subtitles if you want to hear the episode's regular audio track) while watching the episodes.  I can't wait for season 3.
