The third and final season of FRIDAY THE 13TH THE SERIES is a mixed bag as the other seasons.   Exit one of the leads in an absurd way that it screams character assassination (THE PROPHECIES) and one of the dumbest episodes is MY WIFE AS A DOG (which boggles my mind on why the producers greenlight the piece of dog poo in the first place).   However, the season does have strong episodes like the tragic NIGHT PREY.  The season does feature guest actors who have been another character in a different episode (Colm Ferore is back as an evil author while Jillian Hennessey has small parts as a vampire and a secretary).  Tia Carera makes an appearance in YEAR OF THE MONKEY.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The only extra basically amounts to original episode promos for select episodes.  I wish they did a short retrospective featurette on the show.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  FRIDAY THE 13TH THE SERIES has it’s up and downs as a series riddled with bad episodes and a few that show the series can be great when you have the right scripts.  However, it isn’t as good as POLTERGEIST: THE LEGACY.   Top props to Paramount and CBS DVD for releasing the entire series on DVD.
