Pauline (AnnaLynne McCord) is a seemingly unattractive high school outcast who has psychosexual fantasies of performing bloody surgeries and having sex.   She is caring towards her ill sister (who has cystic fibrosis), hateful against her mom (Traci Lords), and want to lose her virginity to a high school boy named Adam.  She loves her disturbing fantasies and dreams of being a surgeon so she can save her sister.   In EXCISION, her world spirals deeper into madness as the story plays out.  EXCISION is a disturbing and yet poignant film with powerful imagery and stories of high school kids you can relate to whether you remember how terrible some high school kids can be and putting up with troubled kids as a parent.  AnnaLynne McCord is fantastic whether she is playing the sociopathic teen or playing the ideal image of Pauline in the psychosexual fantasies- who is interesting and disturbing as you watch this character.   She is up for anything in this film in a unique and visual effort from writer/ director Richard Bates Jr. as he crafts a cult masterpiece for a first time feature film director.  The movie is based on a short film he made and funded by a group of his friends.

SPECIAL FEATURES:

The only extras are previews before the main menu and an audio commentary with AnnaLynne McCord and Richard Bates Jr. as they share stories about making the film.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  EXCISION is a bold debut from a disturbingly creative director.  AnnaLynne McCord is fantastic and thrilling as the disturbing and intriguing sociopath Pauline.
