Private detective Vicki Nelson suffers from night blindness.  She used to be a homicide detective.  Ever since being branded with demonic tattoos, she has been more and more at the center of cases involving the supernatural.   She solves crimes with vampire Henry Fitzroy (who writes and draws graphic novels).   She is torn between Henry and her former police partner Mike Celluci.   She doesn’t want anyone getting close to her as she fears she will lose them to evil especially the fallen angel who wants her soul and come across into the world.

The second set of episodes aren't as strong as the first set.  Episodes that stand out are the Goth club episode (BUGGED) and THE DEVIL YOU KNOW.   DEEP DARK is an emotional finale.  What stands out is that Vicki would be willing to sacrifice to save her friends even if there are consequences down the line.   Also keep your eyes peeled for an appearance by the vampire that made Henry, Christina, and a guest appearance by Danny Trejo (WRAPPED).

SPECIAL FEATURES:

A photo gallery featurette and a Season One DVD trailer are the only extras.  I wish they had a featurette focusing on the show and books that inspired the series.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  BLOOD TIES is a strong supernatural crime series mixed with a bit of romance.  It is worth checking out by fans of FOREVER KNIGHT, MOONLIGHT, and HIGHLANDER.  too bad the show has been staked and no more episodes will be made.
